Gaming ADD

By

I’ve always had an extremely hard time sticking with one game all the way to credits.

I start a game, get really into it, and then two nights later bounce to a new game. Over and over.

My consoles are littered with unfinished games. And I’ve always felt bad about it and, crucially, been made to feel bad about it. (That friend isn’t a friend anymore, but the criticism stuck with me for a long time.)

Recently, I’ve been working on my gaming backlog. I’m wanting to step away from consumerism, and what I spend the most money on is video games. Part of my work on my backlog is revisiting unfinished games and making progress in them. I’m still bouncing around, but I’m pushing a whole group of games closer to the finish line.

I’ve finally embraced my gaming ADD. I decided that if it brings me joy, it’s okay. I’m happy playing a different game each night I turn on my PS5? Excellent. Keep it up.

Tonight, in that vein, I return to my Mass Effect replay tonight. I was so excited for the Mass Effect remasters, but I only put 16 hours into ME1 and then moved on. My goal is to return and finish it before February. They’re supremely excellent games (ME2 is a top 5 game for me) and deserve my attention.

So I must put up the keyboard for now and go play.
